June 28, 2026, the Hong Kong, China Dragon & Lion Martial Arts General Association hosted the Hong Kong-Macao-Jiangsu Youth Lion King Cup – the 9th Asian Lion Dance Invitational Tournament, Youth Ground Lion Elite Competition & Hong Kong Youth Dragon-Lion Innovation Technology Cultural Exhibition, which was grandly held at Sha Tin Yuen Wo Road Sports Centre in Hong Kong, with funding support from the Arts and Sports Development Fund of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.Top-tier dragon and lion dance teams from Guangzhou, Taiwan region of China and Malaysia gathered in Hong Kong to compete in this event. Taking lion dance culture as a bond, the tournament showcased the exquisite craftsmanship and spiritual charm of traditional Chinese dragon and lion dance culture.
Xu Wen Qian, Chairman of Aosheng Technology and President of Hong Kong, Macao and Suzhou Youth General Association, together with Wang Xiaoqing, General Manager of Aosheng Technology, were invited to attend the opening ceremony as major sponsors of the event.
Chairman Xu Wen Qian stated that lion dance culture serves as a vibrant carrier of fine traditional Chinese culture, bearing the shared cultural memories and spiritual identity of compatriots from both regions. Named after "Hong Kong, Macao and Suzhou Youth", this tournament aims to forge friendships through lion dance performances. It enables young people from Suzhou and Hong Kong to deepen cultural bonds amid the beating of gongs and drums, and strengthen fraternal affection through exchanges and skill contests.
The organizer stated that beyond inheriting the outstanding traditional Chinese culture through this event, it also aims to infuse vitality of modern technology, build a platform for young people to display their talents and innovative thinking, and demonstrate to the public the boundless potential of intangible cultural heritage in modern society.
